AACN Northwest Chicago Area Chapter will meet on Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 8:30am-12:00pm at Lutheran General Hospital, 10th Floor Special Functions Dining Room, 1775 W Dempster Ave, Park Ridge, IL. We will have 2 speakers:
"Serving Those Who Served: Veterans, Social Determinants, and the Road to Healthcare Access" by Molly Jahrling, DNP, RN, PMH-BC. She will identify strategies to improve healthcare access and address social determinants, including policy advocacy, community- based interventions, and improved coordination between VA and civilian providers; and discuss the role of interdisciplinary teams in addressing holistic needs and improving healthcare outcomes for veterans.
The second speaker: "Understanding Cognitive and Behavioral Sequelae of Traumatic Brain Injury in the Veteran Population" by Monica Delorio, PhD. This presentation will provide an overview of concepts related to incidence, classification, and management of traumatic brain injury in veteran populations. Discussion will focus on cognitive and behavioral symptoms and how these factors interplay with treatment, management, and recovery.
