NWCAC will host our quarterly Educational Meeting on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 8:30-12:00. Our speakers' topics will be:
"To Err Is Human: Caring for the Nurse as a Second Victim", by Daria Ruffolo, DNP, ACNP/Assistant Professor, Loyola University Medical Center and School of Nursing. Virtually every practitioner knows the sickening reality of making a bad mistake You feel singled out and you agonize about what to do and how to live with the results. Later, the event replays itself over and over in your mind. You question your competence. This session is to provide the caregiver tools to effectively deal with the outcomes after an error has occurred and to successfully return to the work force.
"From the Inside Out: A View of Stroke From the Lens of Pathophysiology and Guideline Directed Care" by Sandra Parker, MSN, SCRN, Stroke Program Coordinator, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. This presentation will center on the pathophysiology of a stroke, associated symptoms, and best practices in the care of the acute stroke patient.
